about us
The processing of the material to restore
The working with ferrous metal pieces to restore takes place as follows:
- Passage in an ultrasound tank to eliminate possible deposits of oil or grease on the pieces
- pickling in hydrochloric acid to eliminate the rust.
this operation lasts about one night
- de-nickel plating and de-chromium plating
- hand made polishing to render the pieces ready for nickel plating and chromium plating
- chromium plating process
- when completely chromium-plated, the piece will be newly polished to eliminate every possible opacity deriving from the previous process
The working with aluminium pieces:
- when the previously polished piece is ready for nickel plating, a process takes place, different from the one used for other materials as iron, copper or brass
- the aluminium chrome plating is made with immersions in nitric acid, followed by case-hardening deposits, so that the aluminium piece is covered with a molecular coating produced by the electrolytic nickel deposit
- the following steps are the same as those described for the ferrous material chromium plating
